Port Wine Stain and Birthmark Treatment
Port wine stains are actually benign tumors made up of abnormal blood vessels. Depending on their location and size, they can be debilitating and can have a traumatic effect on a patient's life. They can be smooth or they can be lumpy and can interfere with normal bodily functions such as closing an eye, opening a mouth or moving a finger. They are present from birth, and, if they don't disappear in early childhood, they become larger, darker and thicker during life.
Depending on the size of the abnormal blood vessels, port wine stains are treated most successfully in our office using a laser.
